The School of Italian Language and Culture is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1970 by Italian-Americans in the San Francisco Bay Area. Originally established to educate children of Italian immigrants and persons of Italian descent, the school now attracts students of diverse ethnic backgrounds including business-oriented individuals and vacation travelers interested in learning about Italy, the Italian language, and culture.
From 10:00 am to 12:30 pm Scuola di Lingua e Cultura Italiana continues to preserve for future generations the rich history and immense contribution of Italian culture to American life. Each Saturday morning during the scholastic year, the school offers Italian language classes for the entire family from primary and youth to beginning and advanced adults. The school also organizes cultural events and lectures on Italian culture. Since it was founded, the school has served more than 6,000 students. Currently, two classes are open for primary students six to eight years old and youth nine to twelve years old. Six levels of classes are open for adults: Beginning I, Beginning II, Intermediate I, Intermediate II, Advanced Conversation, and Advanced Literature..
